Don’t you always have your camera with you?
As I prepare my bag for the daily photoshoot, I take advantage of the little delay of my client, to talk about a topic, that is often discussed by friends, acquaintances and curious people.
“ You are a photographer and you don’t always have your camera with you?”
It’s true, I am a photographer, it is my job, I’m a wedding photography in Tuscany, I love telling people’s lives, I am lucky for that, love my job, I like leaving a memory, I like the idea of a mother that talks about her wedding day to her children, using something created by me.
I like the idea of telling a unique moment (all of them are unrepeatable), of narrating and stopping places and people, I like that my photos are used for different purposes.
To answer the daily question, it’s simple, I don’t take my camera with me when I don’t work, because I like living my life, I like that my mind elaborates a memory, when I have my camera in front of my eyes, I always create something interpreted, I decide what is inside and what is outside in a second, I must decide what is important and what is not, the right light, the time, the depth of field …. It is awesome doing that but it is not like living what I see, sometimes (only sometimes), there are things that are more important than a photo
I understand very well my colleagues that live with the camera in their hands, but this is not for me: when I don’t work, take the camera with me, is an option, not a rule.
Here is a quote for you:
“I do not remember anything of that trip. I was too busy photographing and I did not look”
(Umberto Eco)
